Metal Working Equipment

The metal working equipment can cut, bend, and roll thin sheet metal. In the Maker Lab we have a Woodward Fab throatless rotary shear (pictured), box and pan brake, and slip roll.

Training Required: Basic Training
Workspace:
- Throatless Rotary Shear- up to 1/8" thick
- Box and Pan Brake- 20 gauge capacity, maximum width 12", maximum box depth 1-3/4"
- Slip Roll- 20 gauge/0.9" (Steel), 18 gauge/1.2" (Brass), 17 gauge/1.36" (Aluminum); wire grooves for 1/16", 1/8", and 3/16"

Material Fees: We don't provide any materials.
Common Terminology: Throatless Rotary Shear- allows for easy cuts of any shape up to 1/8" (3mm) of sheet metal. You can manually guide the material or use a fence for straight cuts. Box and Pan Brake- allows for accurately and quickly bend sheet metal. The adjustable dies/fingers gives this tool the versatility to create channels and boxes of various sizes. Slip Roll- used to roll sheets and strips of metal.
